Bienvenido Adrian!

3. May 2019

Before joining VSHN I worked as a full-time software developer for 22 years.
I started my career as a web developer in 1997 using Microsoft technologies. This was at the times when Netscape Navigator was still a thing; we did not call ourselves “Full-Stack engineers;” and apps were not running on “The Cloud” yet, but simply on a non-virtual, actual, often rebooted, Windows server, somewhere in a datacenter, with a single-core Pentium II chip, and not even a half a gigabyte of RAM.
During those days I used programming languages like VBScript, JavaScript, C#, Visual Basic.NET, Transact-SQL, or PHP. In 2008 I switched the focus of my work towards smartphones, and became a mobile developer; first writing applications for iOS, and later for Android as well, using Objective-C, Swift, Java, Kotlin, and many other tools. That was my job until last year.
In the meantime I also started teaching and writing, and then I started getting invitations to talk in developer events. Since 2006 I have given at least one talk at a technical conference every year. Lately I became interested in the human side of software engineering. My most recent talks have to do with how software engineers cope with burnout, dysfunctional teams, politics, and other related subjects.
I am also a keen writer. I have blogged more or less regularly since 2004, and I have also published two books with O’Reilly, plus many others as an independent publisher. I nowadays keep a monthly blog/magazine called “De Programmatica Ipsum,” where I invite others to join me and to write about many subjects related to the relationship between society and code.
I am thrilled (actually the correct word is ecstatic!) to join the VSHN team, to be able to learn more about DevOps, OpenShift, and the Cloud in general; and also to listen to our customers and, by doing so, to help evolving our products towards a better future.
My e-mail is and I look forward to hearing from you!
