VSHN.timer #183: Attending Red Hat Summit 2023

22. May 2023

Welcome to another VSHN.timer! Every Monday, 5 links related to Kubernetes, OpenShift, CI / CD, and DevOps; all stuff coming out of our own chat system, making us think, laugh, or simply work better.

This week we’re attending the Red Hat Summit 2023 in Boston, and we’ll talk about OpenShift 4.13, ARO, ROSA, and all things Red Hat.

1. We’re huge fans of Red Hat OpenShift at VSHN; take for example our own APPUiO Cloud: a ready-to-use cluster. For that reason, we were very curious to learn the new features of OpenShift 4.13 in this video.

2. Red Hat recently announced the availability of multi-version support and OpenShift 4.11 for Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO), offering flexibility and ease of deployment.

3. Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) has three streams of logs: “Audit”, “Infrastructure” and “Application.” This blog post explores the built-in Cluster Logging and Cluster Log Forwarding operators, and how to configure them to ship and store logs to S3 buckets.

4. In this keynote at the OpenShift Commons Gathering during the last KubeCon in Amsterdam, Martin Reiling spoke about the best practices and pitfalls of migrating traditional business-critical workloads to a cloud native environment.

5. Jack Henschel explained the work CERN has done with OpenShift and OKD to enable the Large Hadron Collider and other complex particle physics experiments to ingest large amounts of data, analyze it, and share it with the world.
