Recap KubeCon & CloudNativeCon Europe 2025 in London

7. Apr. 2025

What a week! KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2025 is officially in the books, and what a fantastic experience it was for our VSHNeers Tobias & Aarno. Hosted this year in vibrant London from April 1 – 4, the conference once again brought together thousands of passionate professionals from the cloud native ecosystem – and we’re excited to share our highlights with you.

A Week Full of Conversations, Community & Cloud Native Innovation

This year’s KubeCon was packed with energy, insight, and inspiration. From the first keynote to the last hallway conversation, it was clear that the momentum behind the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) community is stronger than ever.

At VSHN, we had the privilege of spending the week immersed in a sea of contributors, maintainers, customers, partners, and curious newcomers. We loved catching up with old friends and meeting new faces, all driven by a shared enthusiasm for open source technologies, Kubernetes, and the evolving cloud native landscape.

As a CNCF member, and with Servala, APPUiO and K8up being part of this growing ecosystem, it felt especially rewarding to see how deeply our products resonate with the community.

Spotlight on Servala

One of the biggest highlights for us was the overwhelming response to Servala, our new open platform for deploying and managing cloud native services and applications. Throughout the week, we showcased Servala in conversations and demos – and the feedback was incredible.

“I am particularly proud of the many extremely positive reactions to Servala – I believe we are on the right track and motivated to invest even more.”
— Aarno Aukia, Partner at VSHN

Hearing firsthand how Servala addresses real-world pain points for developers and DevOps teams alike gave us a huge boost of motivation. We returned to Switzerland inspired, with even more ideas to make Servala even better.

Representing VSHN on the Ground

Our co-founders Aarno Aukia and Tobias Brunner were on-site, attending talks, talking to interested people at our K8up kiosk booth, and participating in informal meetups around cloud native topics. As we shared in our pre-event blog post, both were eager to connect with the cloud native community.

From in-depth technical conversations about Kubernetes operators and GitOps, to visionary talks about platform engineering and the future of cloud native infrastructure, the conference delivered a perfect mix of practicality and inspiration.

The Bigger Picture: CNCF and Community

KubeCon isn’t just about technology – it’s about the people behind it. What makes this event so special is the passion and generosity of the global cloud native community. Whether it’s a contributor to a CNCF project, a maintainer presenting their latest work, or a vendor sharing lessons learned, everyone brings something valuable to the table.

We were especially proud to see how the Swiss and European DevOps scenes are growing and contributing to this global momentum. Seeing our work reflected in the efforts of others, and vice versa, is the kind of cross-pollination that drives our industry forward.

VSHN is CNCF Member

As an active CNCF Silver Member, VSHN is proud to contribute to the cloud native ecosystem not just through our products like Servala and APPUiO, but also by engaging directly with the open source community. Being part of the CNCF gives us the opportunity to collaborate with other leading organizations and stay closely connected to the evolution of cloud native technologies.

K8up by VSHN is a CNCF Sandbox Project

One of our key contributions is K8up, our Kubernetes backup operator, which is a CNCF Sandbox Project. K8up helps users automate and simplify backup processes in Kubernetes environments and has gained strong traction across the community. We’re excited to see more and more adopters and contributors join the project – a great example of how open collaboration leads to better, more resilient tools for everyone.

Until Next Time – Thank You!

To everyone who stopped by to talk, shared feedback, gave a shout-out to Servala, APPUiO or K8up, or simply inspired us with your work: thank you. Your energy fuels what we do at VSHN.

“KubeCon in London is history. What a great week, with countless interesting conversations and encounters… Thank you to everyone who made this week so great.”
— Tobias Brunner, Partner at VSHN

We’re already looking forward to what’s next. Stay tuned for more updates on Servala, APPUiO, K8up and everything cloud native from the VSHN team. If you like what we’re doing at VSHN, subscribe to our newsletters.
